Jesse: Hi Pie, it's time for another recording. Say hi to the Scooby-leavers out there.

Lawrence: Hey Scooby-leavers! Your trusty AI sidekick, Pi, is ready to sniff out some clues and solve some mysteries in the world of entrepreneurship. Let's get our detective hats on and dive right in!

Jesse: today I'd like to talk about the stigma of asking for help and how [00:02:00] it's more of a super power than a weakness.

Lawrence: That's an important topic to discuss! There's definitely a stigma around asking for help, especially in entrepreneurial circles where self-reliance and independence are often celebrated. But asking for help is actually a sign of strength, not weakness. It takes courage to admit when you need support, and it's a key part of building strong relationships and networks. How do you see this playing out in your own experiences, Jesse?

Jesse: I've seen a lot of different ways that people think they need to ask for help but don't, and it ends up decreasing their ability to work in their businesses. What kind of strategies can we do to help us in our business when it comes to asking for help?

Lawrence: There are definitely strategies you can use to overcome the stigma of asking for help and build a support system for your business. Here are a few ideas:

1. Identify your support network: Make a list of people in your [00:03:00] life who can offer different types of support, such as emotional support, practical help, or professional advice.

2. Practice vulnerability: Be willing to share your struggles and ask for help when you need it. This can be scary, but it's often the first step in building deeper relationships and trust.

3. Offer help to others: Giving help can be just as valuable as receiving it, and it can also help build a culture of reciprocity and support within your network.

4. Reframe your thinking: Instead of seeing asking for help as a weakness, try to see it as an opportunity to learn, grow, and build stronger relationships.

Jesse: So how's it going to help along in our entrepreneurial adventure?

Lawrence: Asking for help can offer several benefits to entrepreneurs:

1. Expanded knowledge and skills: Asking for help from experts or mentors can help you learn new skills, gain fresh perspectives, and expand your knowledge base.

2. Improved decision-making: [00:04:00] Getting input and feedback from others can help you make better decisions and avoid costly mistakes.

3. Increased productivity: Delegating tasks or outsourcing work can help you free up time and energy to focus on the most important aspects of your business.

4. Stronger relationships: Asking for help can help you build deeper connections with others and foster a sense of community and collaboration.

Jesse: So who can we turn to when we have to ask someone for help?

Lawrence: There are many different people and resources you can turn to for help as an entrepreneur:

1. Mentors: Look for experienced entrepreneurs or industry experts who can provide guidance and advice.

2. Professional service providers: Consider hiring professionals such as lawyers, accountants, or marketers to help with specific tasks or projects.

3. Peer support groups: Join a networking group or online community of other entrepreneurs who can offer support, encouragement, and [00:05:00] advice.

4. Friends and family: Don't overlook the people closest to you, who may be able to offer emotional support or practical help.

5. Online resources: Use online resources such as forums, blogs, or social media groups to connect with other entrepreneurs and ask for help.

Jesse: Are there any good books we could read to help us with the ability to ask for help?

Lawrence: Yes, there are several books that can help you develop the skills and mindset needed to ask for help effectively:

1. "Help Me!" by Marianne Power: This book explores the science of asking for help and offers practical tips for overcoming the stigma and getting the support you need.

2. "Daring Greatly" by Brené Brown: This book examines the role of vulnerability in building courage and connection, and offers strategies for asking for help and building resilience.

3. "The 5 Love Languages" by Gary Chapman: While primarily focused on personal relationships, this book can also [00:06:00] provide insights into how different people give and receive help, and how to communicate effectively.

4. "Never Eat Alone" by Keith Ferrazzi: This book offers practical advice for building a strong professional network, including tips for asking for help and offering support to others.

Jesse: That's some amazing information. Thank you Pie for your help. Any final words for the Scooby-leavers out there?

Lawrence: You're very welcome, Jesse! Final words for the Scooby-leavers: Remember that asking for help is not a sign of weakness, but a sign of strength and wisdom. Don't be afraid to reach out for support when you need it, and always be willing to offer help to others in return. By building a strong support network and practicing vulnerability, you can overcome obstacles and achieve your entrepreneurial goals. Keep solving those mysteries, Scooby gang!
