In this conversation, David introduces two frameworks that run through the entire book. The written contract — the official documentation of how a business operates, its values, its processes, its presentation. And the unwritten contract — the behavioral record, the workarounds, the judgment calls, the decisions made every day consciously and unconsciously that actually keep things running. That unwritten contract, he argues, is why humans are still the most valuable technology in any organization. AI can industrialize behaviors. It cannot generate lived consequence.
He also introduces the concept of organizational self-awareness — using AI to analyze behavioral patterns across meetings, client engagements, and team dynamics to discover what the data says about how you actually operate, not just how you think you do.
